8 Ways To Keep Your Heart Healthy
Healthy HabitsHeart Health

Heart health is the ultimate form of self-care!

A healthy heart can reduce your risk for disease, lower medical costs, and help you live a long, quality life. In honor of February being American Heart Month, we’re bringing you tips for keeping this vital organ in its best shape.

Scroll over the photos below to uncover eight ways to keep your heart healthy.

Manage Your Blood Pressure

Knowing your blood pressure reading is essential to good heart health. Check this at your doctor’s office or any local pharmacy.

Maintain A Healthy Weight

Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is one of the best things
we can do for our physical, mental, and emotional wellness. A healthy weight directly correlates with a healthy heart!

Stay Smoke-Free

One of the best things you can do for your heart is to avoid smoking. Smoking can contribute to health risks such as heart attack and heart disease.

Enjoy A Nutritious Diet

Adding more real foods into your meals
is something that can be great for your heart. Avoid over-consumption of processed foods and opt for the proper servings of fruits, veggies,
whole grains, etc.

Manage Your Cholesterol Levels

Scheduling a wellness screening is one of the best ways to monitor your HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) and LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol). Knowing the status of these levels can help detect and prevent serious heart conditions.

Stay Active

Exercising and staying physically active
is more important than the number you see on the scale. Keep your heart healthy and pumping by sitting less
and moving more.

Moderate Alcohol Intake

If you choose to consume alcohol, the CDC recommends limiting yourself to two drinks if you are a man or one drink if you are a woman.

Take Care Of Your Mental Health

Too much stress can be harmful to heart health. Prioritizing your mental and emotional well-being can affect many areas of your life for the better!
